Starlink

Satellite internet comes into action ;)
Picture
You can order preorders for Poland https://www.starlink.com/

During beta, users can expect to see data speeds vary from 50Mb/s to 150Mb/s and latency from 20ms to 40ms in most locations over the next several months as we enhance the Starlink system. There will also be brief periods of no connectivity at all.

As we launch more satellites, install more ground stations and improve our networking software, data speed, latency and uptime will improve dramatically.

The Starlink team will provide periodic updates on availability as we launch more satellites and expand our coverage area. Depending on your location, some orders may take 6 months or more to fulfill.

Price ;)

Hardware PLN 2
Service PLN 449,00 / mo
Shipping & Handling
$ 276,00

Due Today
$ 449,00

And it was supposed to be cheap and for the 3rd world like Africa etc ;)

I don't think anyone expected that this net from the beginning would cost, for example, PLN 80 per month - I suspect that with time, the increase in the number of customers and possible competition from amazon, the prices will drop a bit. The mere fact that there is an additional option, especially for difficult terrain, is comforting.

Where there is LTE / 5G, it will never be a significant competition. As if he wasn't watching the radio either. It will probably gain users who need such mobile access and that's it.

Theoretically, you can agree, but practice shows that if it were true, hardly anyone in cities would be interested in a wireless net, because let's face it - in most large cities there is fiber and even if not, for most users a stable net is better 10 mega unlimited on copper than depending on the weather, load and all the rest of other LTE factors, fiddling with antennas etc. And yet some of them use such solutions for various reasons. So if the price is more decent, I personally see no reason not to switch from LTE to Starlink. Especially in non-urbanized areas, where there are relatively few transmitters but a lot of people burdening them.

There are places in Poland where LTE does not reach.
But in 99% of cases, a much cheaper too-way will suffice - no normal person lives in such spots and rather telemetry or photos for the forestry inspectorate go there (which in most cases puts masts and will definitely reach LTE from there)

Hello,
I ordered a Starlink trial.
According to the manufacturer, it should be in PL in the middle or at the end of the year.
I also invite volunteers to the Starlink Polska fb group:

Too-way are cosmic pings that should not be in starlink. Starlink is a completely different system, more similar to LTE than to the "satellite internet" known so far.

Sure, but if you read what I wrote:
"in 99% of cases, a much cheaper too-way will suffice - no normal person lives in such spots and rather telemetry or photos for the forest district go there"
Here, the difference in ping 50 vs 1500 ms is really not impressive.
For home use, Starlink will have a huge advantage over Tooway.

The photos for the forest district are from cameras with a SIM card slot ;)

Honestly, it's me working remotely, if I had a weaker LTE coverage at home, I would take such a Starlink, in my opinion, the price is affordable, looking at the fact that Solorz wants PLN 200 for 1 TB per month in Plus on their pseudo network, and here almost fiber-optic Starlink.

In general, each technology was expensive in the beginning, so I agree that starlink will also become cheaper over time. However, I doubt that it will be a competition for LTE, because looking at how these technologies work, you can see that LTE should be cheaper. Therefore, both technologies target different customer groups. In sum, they can be considered as a car and a bicycle, where both vehicles allow you to get to your destination, but are useful in other cases. Total on the site https://satelitarnecyfrowe.pl/starlink- ... ak-works / it was interestingly described in which countries it is a profitable solution in terms of Internet availability and costs.

If someone has a heavily forested plot, it's also a problem for Starlink, he likes "open skies" because of the moving Elon satellites ... any obstacle to the visibility of the satellite is a problem, so it's not an ideal technology either, although the price is definitely encouraging now, especially that this set has a heated antenna, but it is not an energy-saving technology, 100W such a set consumes

What is the deal with buying the Starlink Antenna from someone?
There are offers on OLX where people spend equipment for Stalin right away. Do you have any experience with this?

Czy mają coś w rodzaju pre-paid, że płaci się za np. pół roku (na dłużej nie potrzebuje)? Jaki jest minimalny okres umowy? Czy jest umowa bez okresu zobowiązania?
