Will upgrading the hardware really improve anything?

Postauthor: tankred » 2023-03-05, 16:23

Net has been running fine for 3 years ... all in all, I'm happy.
I'm just wondering if there is a chance for QAM256 under such conditions?
Theoretically, on 1800 (10MHz) and 2100 (15MHz) I have a max of 187,5 Mbit in MIMO 2x2 QAM64 (B535).
After upgrading the hardware to aggregate 3 bands (800(10MHz)+1800+2100) + QAM256 theoretically: 350 Mbit.
If I add DL on 2100 to the real results at 1800+800 and everything + 30% (QAM256) it should be 50% better than it is... (160 Mbit).
Calmly wait for the router to fail in an unheated attic, or change something earlier? What do you think about it ?
Regards!

Test at 15:10, soft snow.

QAM256 is only from a really close distance, already at 500m with full visibility it is difficult.

The SINR parameter on LTE2100 and you allows you to switch on QAM256 modulation, with LTE1800 it is similar, in LTE2100+1800 aggregation, higher modulation allows for an increase in DL and on UL on the baseband to use QAM64 and also higher speeds.

Thank you :)
I dug up for tests with the router (B535) on the roof (3 years ago), on built-in antennas:
BAND/rssi/rsrq/rsrp/sinr
2100 -71 -7 -95 19
2100 -69 -10 -96 17
1800 -65 -10 -91 16
1800 -69 -12 -97 10
800 -63 -8 -89 5
800 -63 -10 -90 2
Maybe a router with MIMO 4x4 in a hermetic box with built-in antennas will be an idea? E.g. B818? Any other idea?
Should be 2x faster even if it doesn't catch QAM256 ? Will this BTS handle it?
Regards.

I went for a walk around 13/14.
On a phone with lte cat 16 in the best place (about 600-700 m from BTS, visibility, a lot of field in front of me):
DL 198MB/s UP 0,08MB/s Ping 27ms Jitter 10ms.
150 m from the mast:
DL 140 UP 0,08 Ping 31 Jitter 10ms
At home after a walk: (B535).
DL 60-80MB/s, UP 24MB/s Ping 15ms Jitter 6ms
I went on the roof. On the chimney, in place of the antenna, the phone achieves the same as a modem with an antenna.. 60-80 DL. :sour:
It seems that the modem in the can does nothing ...
Modem + antenna in relation to the modem in the place of the antenna gives (tests 3 years ago):
RSSI/ RSRQ/ RSRP/SINR
800: -18/+2/-15,5/-0,5
1800: +3 /-2,5/ +3,5/ +3,5
2100: +9 /+0,0/ +7,5 /+7
hm ...
